Chandigarh is a union territory in northern part of India and
it is capital of two states Punjab and Haryana, the city is ruled directly by
the Union Government so not part of either state. The city of Chandigarh was
pre-planned city in post-independence era. The master planer of the city was
Swiss-French architect Le Corbusie, Maciej Nowicki and American planner Albert
Mayer. The city has extreme climate and uneven distribution of rainfall, the
roads in the Chandigarh are surrounded by trees and the city was the cleanest
city of India on the base of national government study.
Some interesting point in Chandigarh are Sukhna Lake, Zakir
Hussain Rose Garden, ChattBir Zoo, Tower of Shadows, Chandigarh Golf Club, Open
Hand Monument, Rock Garden of Chandigarh, Elante Mall of shopping and many more
place here.
Sukhana Lake is at the foothills of the Shivalik hills and created in 1958 by Le Corbusier the Chief Enginner P L Verma. Sukhna Lake is located in sector 1, and it has The Garden of Silence within Shivalik Hills. The lake is venue for many festive celebrations and most popular is the Mango festival held during the monsoons.
Rock Garden is also
situated in Sector 1 and middle of the capital complex and the founder was Nek
Chand so second name of the garden is
Nek Chand Rock Garden mostly things in garden is used waste materials as like
mudguards, metal wires, play marbles and many more waste material.
Rose Garden is over 30
acres the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is the largest botanical garden in Asia
that is dedicated to rose and it is situated in Sector 16 and it has nearly 825
varieties of rose and more than 32,500 varieties of medical plant and trees.
Pinjore Gardens also known as the Yadvindra Garden were
created by the Nawab under the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The Gardens are 20 km
from Chandigarh, 15 km from Panchkula and cover a total area of 100 acres. Some other place are zoo, plant nursery and
especially at weekend tour.
